Mamdani issued a statement on the US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as their planned indictment in NYC, calling it “an act of war and a violation of federal and international law.” Mamdani stated that this regime change would have a local impact on NYC, and its many thousand Venezuelan residents. He also spoke with President Trump in the morning to register his opposition to the act.
